A heartwarming day of service at the Quezon City Hall last November 18, 2023, as we joined hands with the Skin Research Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. and the Philippine Dermatological Society for Skin Week 2023. Together, we extended free consultations, medical procedures, nourishment, and medications to the members of the Metro Manila Persons with Disability Vendors Association and their families.
The day started with a Skin Care Lecture by Dr. Caryl Lyca Dematawaran while patients were waiting for their consultation or dermatological procedure. Patients were then assisted to their assigned dermatologist for their skin, hair, and nail consult. The dedicated doctors and healthcare workers from the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center Department of Dermatology along with support from the Quezon City Government and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office served approximately 300 patients with various diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus, acne vulgaris, seborrheic keratosis, etc. Patients requiring extractions, electrocautery, snip excisions for warts, acrochordon, molluscum contagiosum, and dermatosis papulosis nigra were treated. Oral and topical post-operative medicines were also given.
Every year, our department actively seeks out ways to take our services and expertise to the communities that truly need them. It's incredibly fulfilling for us to witness the smiles on our patients' faces as they receive the dermatologic care and free medications they require. It warms our hearts to know we're making a positive impact. May we continue to embody the spirit of #LoveServeCare, making a positive impact on lives and fostering a community of wellness.
